The 10 health + beauty products you didn’t know you needed from Amazon
Once in a while, you stumble across a product that you have no idea how you lived without. While I try to justify most of my Amazon purchases this way, there are a couple of things I have discovered that are now must-haves in my health and beauty routines.
These products might seem like random odds and ends, but they are impressive staples in my book.
- This ice roller ($17.99) – I bought this for Chris to put in his stocking for Christmas last year. He loves my jade roller, so I thought he would be into this. We both use this when we are feeling puffy or congested in the morning; it has a cooling effect that brings down any swelling and soothes the skin
- These microfiber wash cloths (6 pack for $13.99) – You will be shocked and borderline concerned to see what comes off your face when you cleanse using one of these wash cloths. To be honest, I have never used wash cloths before- I found them gross and an unnecessary nuisance. But these prove me wrong. Use them in your double cleanse, and your skin will be thoroughly rid of the gunk that clogs your pores causing breakouts overnight. Use them once or flip to use twice before you toss them into the wash on your cold cycle.
- A foot file ($12.97) – Honestly, it doesn’t matter which foot file you get, as long as it looks like this one. If you’re on your feet all day like me, then you get calluses whether or not you get a bi-weekly pedicure. This foot file takes no time at all to remove the dead skin on your heels and balls of your foot. While absolutely disgusting, it prevents against dry and painful cracked skin. Do this in your tub (trust me), and follow up with any moisturizer.
- This all-purpose lotion ($14.22) – If you haven’t heard of Weleda Skin Food, then you are seriously missing out. It has a perfect citrus smell, and can be used anywhere. Pop it on your face, hands, elbows or knees at night if you have dry skin, place it gently on the high points of your face (cheekbones, forehead) after your normal skincare for a natural highlighter under makeup, or use it as a finishing balm on your hair when it’s in a ponytail. This cream is the MVP of my beauty routine, and it’s clean.
- These exfoliators ($6.99 for 2) – Made from silicon instead of other materials that trap bacteria, these palm-sized exfoliators are perfect for gently scrubbing away dry skin on your face and body. I love a shower loofah, but they collect a lot of bacteria, which ends up irritating your skin. These little guys travel well, suction to your walls, and give you the lather that you enjoy with a loofah.
- These dorky headbands (8 for $14.99) – I despise when my hair gets wet or product in it during a face mask treatment or my nightly skin routine. And the feeling of a strand of hair on my cheek or eye when doing my makeup is gross. These silly looking headbands really do the trick; they are soft, and gently push your hair back while you get your daily beauty routine in. Also great for protecting your hairline in the shower on the days you aren’t washing your hair.
- These face razors (pack of 6 for $4.99) – While they are advertised as razors to shape your eyebrows, these razors are the best way to remove dead skin. They are perfect for dermaplaning/face shaving (more to come on this), but also great at removing stubborn hairs that you don’t want to wax (unibrow, chin and ‘stache). They are tiny, come with covers, and they are cheap. Make sure you spray with rubbing alcohol or clean with warm water when done.
- This muscle cream ($7.00) – If you don’t know about Tiger Balm, you are seriously missing out. Perfect for sore muscles after a workout or tense shoulders from sitting at a desk all day, this balm is an ultimate healer and soother for the tension headaches and lower back pain I suffer from. Rub your finger into the tub, and gently rub in circles around the area of pain. Just wait for the cooling relief to kick in.
- This healing ointment ($13.74 for a tub to last a lifetime) – Last year, I did a round of Accutane to finally knock out my adult acne. It dries your skin out completely, and you wake up with your face in flakes. For me, the skin around my eyes, lips and nose were red, raw and peeling constantly. I discovered the magical healing powers of Aquaphor, and I will never not carry it around with me or have a tub sitting on my bedside table again. Rub it around your eyes and cover with a face mask at night, place it on your lips before sleep, or rub it inside your nose for dry sinuses. Game. Changer.
- This water bottle ($49.95) – This water bottle is worth its weight in gold. I have always hated the task of drinking water, which would leave my skin ridden with acne and my head pounding at the end of the day. As absurd as this sounds, this water bottle changed my life. It keeps water cold for hours, and the straw lid makes it easy to pop and sip. Now I drink at least three of these a day, and feel so much better. Your skin will thank you- there is no greater beauty product than water.
